So, as a good hostess, i kept the best for the end. You would not eat the dessert before the main course, right? Now you are all kicking and screaming for Joo Sang-wook (cotton candy smile) and Lee Sang-woo (choco abs).
But wait, there is a new kid in town. He crashed on my island without notice. His strong point? A.C.T.I.N.G. Because sometimes you just get tired of flower boys and flower pots…
So, enjoy the few pics of the two male leads cause obviously it’s not them I want to talk about here.
Joo Sang-wook:
Lee Sang-woo:
Now, Jin Tae-hyun: The man plays Ha In-woo, the older brother of Joon-young (the doormat heroine). He is a carefree broke rock musician (so many pleonasms…). He is bold, honest, affectionate with a kind of sadness in his eyes. And of course he is a player and a troublemaker too… The actor stole my heart with his performance. In only 10 episodes on 32 at the end of the drama and with a secondary character. I’m sorry for the 2 cuties above but once you have seen that guy act you feel like they are just wax faces afraid to frown cause it will give them wrinkles. The thing is, actors are supposed to convey emotions. Not only be perfect faces with glowing teeth (dentists should calm down a little bit in SK, seriously). Jin Tae-hyun is good at this game, may it be natural or the result of acting lessons. He knows how to use the space at his disposal and he has a clear body language. Plus a face that you can read like an open book. I want him back on my screen like yesterday… ♥♥♥♥
The man on real life:
And now, a little collection of his expressions in the drama (ignore the hair color, it’s the only artistic faux-pas of the drama):
Feels so good to have a new crush who is not completely shallow… Maybe just a bit.

You’re so right about the emotions vs. looks. I like both Joo Sang-Wook and Lee Sang-woo, but something began going slightly awry with their performances. I mean, when I started watching FOTG, I liked or disliked the characters, but certainly I thought they were people and not cardboards (of course being totally handsome doesn’t hurt in this department). At the end of the series it felt they just come, say something and go. Is it the writer’s fault or what? I did have a feeling that next to Jin Tae-Hyun, other characters, especially the male leads became bland (ha! it’s a show about cooking after all).
All in all, as a primitive who eats just not to be hungry, I rather enjoyed nice faces (and whatever they decided to show :)) than the food prepared onscreen.
Thank you for the lovely dessert!

The male characters were obviously not written as well as in other dramas. The star was the food, no doubt about that. Just look at the poster. The men were here to spice things a bit. They were both written like second male leads: 2 persistent suitors: 1 light and funny and direct in his approach. The other dark, broody and secretly in love. Not very subtle. My opinion is that Joo Sang-wook had the best dialogues and spoken scenes with the girl and Lee Sang-woo had the chemistry, the quiet attraction. I wonder if the brother character was written from the start or added along the road cause he arrived at a moment when things were starting to get boring. Anyway i thank MBC for his presence. Wouldn’t mind a sequel just for him… 🙂 And i hope the 2 super oppas will have interesting parts to play soon. JSW is already taken for Ten season 2 this summer.

TEN season 2? Buhh ;( I don’t like those scary, weird series. They’re ugly and unpleasant to watch. Ten episodes of Joo Sang-Wook and I won’t be able to appreciate them. And I want to see something where he can do more than just be his handsome self. Cause I don’t think it will evolve into something Miss Marple style? I’m fine with murders but please, commited in a clean, civilised way and not by means of cutting the victim into pieces. The sheer thought means bad dreams to me. And I think even the writers of such dramas wouldn’t like to see those dreams 😐

I intended to comment from the very first day, but … the men in this show – so bad written characters that the actors didn’t know how to play the roles.
JSW was awesome in TEN, that kind of character is so him. Here – just a 2 to 3 lead, reading charts all day, yak!
LSW – he just need to find his style. It’s the second role of him that I watched, and he is handsome, has a good body-language, but PLEASE, choose better next time!
Jin Tae-hyun – he was pushed in the drama, but to late and his character became as boring as the plot. Good acting skills but bad role.
I like the subject, you should do this for other dramas too.

I will post more of those “I like it because”. It’s a good way to highlight/review dramas when you don’t have time to recap them. And galleries take less time than essays. A Gentleman’s Dignity is begging me to do something for him. And some of my precious oldies too. 🙂
